Bangu confirm coaching internship for ex-Flamengo midfielder, former team-mate of Ronaldinho Gaúcho | OneFootball

Bangu have confirmed former Flamengo midfielder Thiago Neves is undertaking a coaching internship as he moves into management. He previously played alongside Ronaldinho Gaúcho at Flamengo.

The club said in a post that Neves will shadow head coach Tinoco in daily work at the Rio side. The placement is designed to give him practical, on-pitch experience.

Neves has completed the CBF B coaching licence and the federation's sports management course. Before joining Bangu for this stint, he also undertook an internship at Barcelona (ESP).

He joined Flamengo in 2011 and delivered notable displays, lifting the Carioca title. He was in the squad that clinched qualification for the 2012 Libertadores, then left early that year.

Bangu are enjoying a strong 2026, having reached the Taça Rio final where they will meet Botafogo. Their state campaign has also secured places in the 2027 Copa do Brasil and Campeonato Brasileiro Série D.

Meanwhile, Flamengo prepare for their next outing on Monday against Madureira in the second leg of the Carioca semi-final. Kick-off is 21:00 Brasília time at the Maracanã.
