Flamengo president Bap met sporting director José Boto at Ninho do Urubu for the third day running, with changes to his role considered likely. His exit has not been formalised.
According to Globo.com, they discussed the recent turbulence, and Bap is seeking to cool tensions and manage any departure smoothly.
Boto remains at work, assisting Leonardo Jardim after Filipe Luís, until a successor is defined.
Bap has decided to change football leadership and begun a search. Edu Gaspar, set to leave Nottingham Forest, has been contacted and is among the leading options.
No choice has advanced while the president weighs the structure, either one decision-maker as now or two roles splitting market and dressing-room tasks. Boto stays until replacements arrive.
The director faces strong rejection from players and staff, with his methods and distance questioned. A change is viewed internally as an olive branch to a group pressing for it.
Boto’s handling of Filipe Luís’ dismissal angered insiders, a sub-minute notice in the Maracanã dressing room after the Madureira rout, first attributed to a presidential order he opposed, later claimed as his own.
Strains date to 2025, including leaked messages on selling Pedro for 15 million euros and a Mikey Johnston deal vetoed by Bap. After only one point from three games with the under-20s in the Carioca, seniors were recalled early, and a leak blaming Bap sharpened thoughts of change.
