Barça and Chelsea battle for Cardoso Varela

FC Barcelona and Chelsea FC are both eyeing Cardoso Varela, the 16-year-old Portuguese winger currently playing for Dinamo Zagreb. Although Varela is under contract until 2028, both clubs believe they could land him for around €5 million.

According to Sports World, Barça sporting director Deco has already reached out to Varela's agent, who also represents Dani Olmo. Barcelona is keen to keep investing in young talent to strengthen its squad. Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Maresca is also looking to inject youth into his side as the Blues aim to return to the elite after their Club World Cup triumph.

Developed at FC Porto, Varela has already made a name for himself at Dinamo Zagreb, where he's featured with the first team. He's also a Portuguese youth international and widely regarded as a top prospect for the future.
