A rumour has emerged in Spain about a possible transfer of Harry Kane to FC Barcelona. Should FC Bayern fans now be worried?
A surprising rumour is causing a stir in Spain – and a frown in Munich: according to the Catalan newspaper SPORT, Bayern striker Harry Kane is considering a possible transfer to FC Barcelona. But the facts clearly speak against it.
The Spanish newspaper reports that Kane could leave FC Bayern as early as next summer. The background to this is said to be an exit clause in his contract, which runs until 2027 and allows the Englishman to leave for a fixed transfer fee of €65 million – but only until 31 January 2026.
This clause is indeed part of the contract, as several media outlets have reported in the past. However, to deduce from this that Kane is seeking a transfer is pure speculation.
According to Sky and BILD, there is no truth to the rumour.
In fact, the superstar himself has repeatedly emphasised in recent weeks that he is not considering a possible departure. In an interview with the Guardian, Kane said: „We’re in a fantastic phase at the moment and I’m not thinking about anything else.“
The 32-year-old also responded clearly to the recurring rumours of a return to England: „That’s not on my mind at the moment.“
Kane’s focus is fully on FC Bayern – and his words clearly underline this.
At the end of September, shortly after scoring his 100th goal in the record champions‘ shirt, Kane replied to the question of whether he also wanted to score his next 100 goals in Munich: „Yes, here in Munich.“
Asked about a possible contract extension, he continued: „I have almost two years left on my contract. So it’s not like I’m in the last year of my contract and everyone is panicking. I think the club is happy with me and I’m happy with the club. So yes, these talks can happen. They haven’t happened yet. But when they do happen, we’ll have an open and honest conversation – about where I stand and where the future of the club lies. All I can say is that we’re going in the right direction and that I’m happy about it.“
There also seems to be a sense of calm internally. According to Sport BILD, sporting director Max Eberl and the club management are firmly convinced that Kane will remain in Munich in the long term. Concrete talks about an extension will only begin after the release clause expires at the end of January 2026.
In addition to the wave of sporting success under coach Vincent Kompany, who recently extended his contract until 2029, Kane’s private life also speaks in favour of him staying. The Englishman and his family feel completely at home in Munich – an important factor for the father of four children.
