Bayern were a goal down at the half-time break with Atlético Madrid taking the lead from Vilde Bøe Risa’s penalty-kick for a handball by Glódís Perla Viggósdóttir. The visitors also had a chance to score from the spot after the restart, but Giulia Gwinn blasted it wide.

However, Bayern turned it around as Pernille Harder provided two excellent finishes from pinpoint deliveries by Klara Bühl. With her brace, the Danish international is now in sixth place in the all-time scorers list (45 goals).

Bayern are eyeing a top-four place, but Fiamma Benítez had other ideas. The 21-year-old striker scored a beautiful goal in the 88th minute to salvage a draw for the hosts. Harder and Fimma are among the seven players who lead the scoring chart with four in the Women’s Champions League.

"Of course, we wanted the three points, which is why I'm certainly disappointed," said Harder after the game. "But we'll go for it again next week (vs. Vålerenga). We'll do everything we can to win, and then we'll see where we end up."

"The early goal we conceded had an emotional impact,” conceded Bayern’s coach José Barcala. “But, we reacted well. We were very dominant, and pinned our opponents deep into their own half. Unfortunately, we gave them too much space after taking the lead."

Bayern are tied with Juventus and Real Madrid, but their earlier 7-1 defeat to Barcelona means they dropped to sixth due to having the worst goal difference from the three teams on 10 points. The 2-2 draw in Madrid ended Bayern’s 11-game winning streak in all competitions, which was started right after that embarrassing night in Barcelona.
