FC Barcelona face important decisions regarding their goalkeeping department ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

The club currently have six goalkeepers under contract: first-team players Joan Garcia and Wojciech Szczesny, as well as loanees Inaki Pena, Aron Yaakobishvili and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and Diego Kochen, who is also part of the reserve team.

On top of that, the Catalans are also weighing up a summer move for Real Sociedad and Spain shot-stopper Alex Remiro.

As such, decisions will need to be made at the Spotify Camp Nou regarding the future of several of these players.

Yaakobishvili an option for the third-choice goalkeeper role

And, according to Mundo Deportivo, Yaakobishvili is emerging as a candidate for the role of third-choice goalkeeper.

Barcelona have been closely monitoring his progress at his current loan club, FC Andorra, and believe he could fit into Hansi Flick’s squad.

The 20-year-old Hungarian goalkeeper’s performances for the lower league club have been positively assessed, even though he has not been playing as regularly in recent weeks.

Yaakobishvili has made 21 appearances so far, keeping three clean sheets. Although he has not started the last four matches due to technical decisions, neither Andorra nor Barcelona question his quality or potential.

The La Masia graduate renewed his contract with Barcelona until 2028 prior to his loan departure, with the club viewing him as a future first-team player.

So far, his loan spell has been beneficial, and in the coming months, Flick and Deco will assess whether to bring Yaakobishvili back to the club and offer him a position in the senior squad.
