Barcelona appear to be closing in on a solution for one of the club’s most promising young goalkeepers, with Diego Kochen expected to continue his development away from Camp Nou next season.

According to journalist Nil Sola, the 20-year-old goalkeeper is edging closer to a loan move to Danish side Lyngby Boldklub.

While a final agreement has not yet been completed, discussions are progressing positively and all parties are working towards a deal that would allow the youngster to gain valuable first-team experience.

Kochen remains highly regarded within Barcelona and is under contract until 2028.

For now, the club has no doubts about his long-term potential, but there is a growing belief that regular football is now essential for the next stage of his development.

As reported by the journalist, Barcelona have been actively searching for the right destination for Kochen ahead of the new season.

The club’s sporting department believes that continuing at Barça Atlètic would no longer provide the level of challenge required for a goalkeeper viewed as one of the academy’s brightest prospects.

Instead, Barcelona want him to experience the demands of senior football in a more competitive environment.

In that regard, several clubs have shown interest in the American goalkeeper in recent weeks, including teams from Spain’s Segunda Division.

However, Lyngby Boldklub have emerged as the strongest candidate to secure his services.

Why Lyngby Boldklub?

It must be noted that the Danish club recently earned promotion and is preparing for life in the country’s top division.

Their project includes a significant role for Kochen, with the possibility of becoming the team’s first-choice goalkeeper despite his young age.

That opportunity has been viewed positively by both the player and Barcelona, who are prioritising guaranteed playing time above all else.

For Barcelona, the objective is not simply to send Kochen out on loan but to accelerate his growth towards becoming a future first-team option.

Goalkeepers often require regular minutes to develop key aspects of their game, and a move to Denmark could provide exactly that.
