Barcelona are widely understood to have had their heads turned by the exploits of Sporting CP standout Luis Suárez across the length of the 2025/26 campaign. The Colombian is fresh off the most prolific year of his career, giving rise to an outstanding 38 goals and nine assists in 53 appearances.

Amid ongoing struggles in reaching an agreement for priority target Julián Alvarez of Atlético Madrid, the Camp Nou brass, in turn, have begun exploring a potential deal for Suárez’s signature.

That’s according to market insider Fabrizio Romano, who has on Friday provided an insight into the situation:

‘Barcelona consider Sporting striker Luis Suárez among options — if Julián Álvarez deal doesn’t happen. Not easy as key player for Sporting but part of Barça shortlist.’
