While looking to reinforce their first team with some very high-profile players, particularly for the center-forward position, FC Barcelona also continue monitoring young talent from around the world. The Blaugranes are looking to incorporate players who are shining at a very young age, and who have also room for a lot of growth, while getting ahead of the competition from other big European clubs.

This policy was quite clear from their recent acquisition of the Egyptian forward Hamza Abdelkarim, who has also been called up by the Egyptian national team for the World Cup. He had joined Barcelona on loan, but the Catalans have already exercised the option to buy him for €1.5 million.

Now, as SPORT has reported, the Blaugrana club has reached a verbal agreement with another promising youngster, i.e., the Ecuadorian left-back Josue Caicedo, who would join Barca Atletico on loan. The news has also been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, who claims that the Catalans would also have the option to get him permanently for around €2.5 million.

The 18-year-old fullback has been one of the most promising players in his position in South American football, and shone particularly brightly in the U-20 Copa Libertadores with LDU Quito. The youngster has impressed coaches and scouts with his athleticism, agility, speed, precise crossing, and attacking abilities, while being able to play also as a midfielder and a winger.

He has also already played 8 games with the first team of LDU Quito, and his last appearance came in his side’s 3-2 win against the Bolivian side Always Ready in the Copa Libertadores on 26th May.

Now, Josue Caicedo is going to take the next step in his career as he crosses the Atlantic, and hopefully, he would turn out to be a success at Barcelona, and remain long at the club, like Hamza Abdelkarim.
