La Liga giants Barcelona are all set to bring a former member of the club’s youth ranks back to Catalunya’s capital.
The player in question? Victor Barberà.
Frontman Barberà departed Barcelona just last summer, taking his talents to Belgium to link up with Club Brugge on a permanent basis.
Just 12 months on, though, the 20-year-old is in line for a swift return.
As first reported by Albert Rogé, and since confirmed by a number of further sources, Barberà will rejoin Barcelona on a free transfer, by way of a contract termination.
The transfer, it is understood, comes in an effort on the part of Brugge to offload the striker’s wages from their bloated wage bill.
With Barberà, who netted nine goals in 17 appearances for Spain at U19 level, still held in high regard back in Barcelona, it is therefore concluded that ‘it is an operation that benefits all parties’.
The Catalan is expected, initially, to line out for Albert Sánchez’s Barca Atlètic.
