Alongside their main pursuit of a centre forward, FC Barcelona are also working on options to strengthen the wide areas of their attack. While Julian Alvarez remains their priority for the number nine role, the club is equally attentive to developments on the wings, where several scenarios are being assessed ahead of the summer window.

One of the key decisions involves Marcus Rashford, whose loan spell at the club is approaching its end. Barcelona have a €30 million purchase option included in the agreement, and the sporting department is still evaluating whether to activate it, depending on the green light from Hansi Flick.

If the club decide not to retain Rashford on a permanent basis, they are expected to move for alternative wide attacking profiles. In that context, one of the names being considered is Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, with Barcelona having already taken initial exploratory steps to assess his situation.

In fact, Deco has recently held a meeting with the player’s agents, Will Salthouse and Adam Dugdale, in talks that also included Bojan Krkic, aimed at understanding the contractual details and financial conditions of a potential deal.

However, the Englishman would not be an easy or cheap target either. In fact, Barcelona are already aware of his current valuation. According to Sky Sports (via Mundo Deportivo), Bayern Munich have opened negotiations with Newcastle over a possible move for the winger, with the Magpies demanding around €90 million for his departure.

Bayern are not willing to meet that figure, although it is understood that a deal could potentially be closed in the range of €75-85 million, including variables. Barcelona, along with Arsenal and Liverpool, have already been informed of this valuation, and all three clubs are closely following the situation.

Anthony Gordon made a strong impression in the Champions League meeting against Barcelona at St James’ Park, where he also found the net and stood out with his pace and direct approach from the left side.

Still, despite the interest, Barcelona are not planning any major financial push at this stage for the English winger, as their priority in attack remains the centre forward position, with Julian Alvarez at the top of their list, while the wing role will ultimately depend on the final decision regarding Rashford’s future.
