Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva will leave the club at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old playmaker’s contract expires on 30 June, and he has decided not to extend the deal and move on in search of a new challenge in his career.

A decorated player, Silva played an integral role in the success that the Cityzens have achieved under Pep Guardiola in recent years.

Given his quality, there is unlikely to be a shortage of suitors to secure his services on a free transfer in the summer.

Barcelona, Juventus keen

And, according to Sky Sports in England, FC Barcelona and Juventus remain keen on signing Silva before next season, now that his departure from Manchester City has been confirmed.

Both clubs have been long-term admirers of the 31-year-old Portuguese international and are weighing up a possible move for him later this year.

The report further states that Silva also has admirers in Saudi Arabia and the MLS in the USA, both of which are possible destinations for him.

But, for now, the former AS Monaco ace has not yet made a final decision on his future and where he will play next season.

Reports in Spain, however, have suggested that Silva’s dream remains to play for Barcelona.

The Catalans chased him for multiple summers when Xavi Hernandez was manager, but Fair Play woes and Man City’s reluctance to let their key player go meant a move never materialised.

Silva, represented by Jorge Mendes – someone who has a great degree of influence at Barça – remains hopeful of realising his dream of donning the Blaugrana jersey.

And, as per the Sky Sports report, Barcelona too are interested in the versatile midfielder.

However, it must be noted that the reigning La Liga champions have other priorities in the market, and any move for Silva would need him to accept a significant pay cut.
