Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are both working hard to secure a deal for Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, with the possibility of a summer transfer hanging in the balance, reports SPORT.
It must be noted that Kvaratskhelia has long been on Barcelona’s radar, with Xavi viewing him as a key player for the club’s future. With his contract running until 2027, Kvaratskhelia’s current situation suggests he may be ready to move on this summer.
His salary is significantly below his performance level, earning just €1.5 million net, which is causing tension between him and the club.
Furthermore, Napoli have set his release clause at €130 million, a figure that many, including Kvaratskhelia’s camp, consider excessive.
PSG made an attempt to sign him this summer, but Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis refused to budge on the price, a stance that highlights the difficulty of negotiating with the Italian club.

As a result, Kvaratskhelia is reportedly becoming frustrated with the ongoing situation, and tensions could soon come to a head.
Napoli’s plan is to offer Kvaratskhelia a contract renewal before the end of the year, potentially increasing his salary to €5 million and lowering the release clause to €100 million.
However, his representatives are not satisfied with these terms, particularly the proposed salary and clause, which they believe should be set at a lower amount to allow for future negotiations.
If an agreement is not reached, Kvaratskhelia’s future may be decided in the summer, with both Barcelona and PSG eager to secure his signature.
Although PSG can offer a more lucrative deal, Kvaratskhelia is said to be drawn to Barcelona’s new project, where he sees the potential for winning major titles in a team that is growing stronger in Europe.
With both clubs now in contact with his representatives, the coming months could determine whether the winger moves to the Camp Nou or heads to Paris.
