FC Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal has been out of action for almost a month now, having suffered a hamstring injury.
The 18-year-old’s absence has not hurt the team as they have lifted the La Liga title comfortably, but his participation in the early stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Spain has been cast in doubt.
Providing an update on the situation, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) agree that there is no need to force Lamine’s return in Spain’s first two World Cup matches against Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia.

Caution is leading the way in his recovery process, with the guiding principle being absolute zero risk and with the match against Uruguay on Saturday, June 27, firmly in mind.
Last week, during an event for the Kings League, he joked: “I’m not touching a ball until the World Cup.”
His words are a reflection of the caution with which the Barcelona star is approaching his recovery from the injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg, which he suffered on April 22 against Celta Vigo after scoring from a penalty.
The winger continues following his recovery plan at Barcelona’s training complex with a very clear objective: not to push himself too hard and not to risk suffering a setback that could leave him out of the World Cup.

Lamine Yamal’s injury generally requires around six weeks on the sidelines.
He will be included in Luis de la Fuente’s squad list and will join Spain’s training camp next week, but the principle remains exactly the same: zero risk.
Communication between Barcelona and the RFEF has been constant, with full agreement between all parties that he should not be exposed in the first two matches against lower-level opponents such as Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia, unless he were completely fit.
