Barcelona are closely monitoring situation of Erling Haaland as he remains silent on Man City troubles | OneFootball

Manchester City have found themselves in deep waters after being found guilty on almost all of the 115 charges relating to breaches of the Premier League’s financial regulations.

The verdict has thrown the futures of several City stars into uncertainty, with questions being raised over the future of multiple star players, including Erling Haaland.

As one of the best players in world football, Haaland’s situation is something that interests Barcelona, among others.

According to Diario SPORT, Haaland has remained quiet in this entire Manchester City saga.

The Norwegian international notably cancelled his scheduled press conference with the national team, as he does not want to talk about City or his future.

Norway confirmed he would not speak during the international break, which is highly unusual for a player who has never previously shied away from the media.

Both Haaland and the national team appear keen to shield the striker from a situation that could escalate into a genuine crisis with his club.

Haaland did address the issue a few weeks earlier, adding that he believed in City’s bosses and was personally involved in the matter.

For Barcelona, the situation could present an intriguing opportunity, particularly given their unsuccessful pursuit of a striker this summer.

The Catalans spent much of the window chasing Julian Alvarez, only for Atletico Madrid to firmly refuse to sell to a direct rival.

Should Haaland become available, he would represent a far more prolific and proven option than the Argentine, being one of the most feared goalscorers on the planet.

Haaland has always expressed a desire to play in Spain at some point, and Barcelona hold a notable advantage in that Joan Laporta enjoys a very strong relationship with the striker’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta.

That said, Haaland renewed until 2034 in one of the biggest contracts in Premier League history, and the deal contains no exit clause, even in the event of a sporting sanction.

Without a release clause, City would demand an exorbitant fee, likely well beyond Barcelona’s means given their ongoing financial constraints. It probably doesn’t help that Real Madrid, too, are interested.
