In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Barcelona are dreaming of a move for Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol. It has been mentioned that the Catalan club are hoping to bring the Croat defender on board this year.
Gvardiol has enjoyed a decent campaign at the Mancunian club as he has put in a string of impressive performances for them on the defensive end of the field. The 23-year-old has scored two goals and secured five assists in 23 matches for Man City this season on all fronts.
The Croat talent is currently among the best centre-backs in the Premier League. Hence, it is no surprise that Barcelona are eyeing a move to bring him to the Nou Camp.
His current contract at the Etihad Stadium will run out in the summer of 2028. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Catalan club to sign him on a cut-price deal this year.

Gvardiol is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and excels at playing his way out from the back.
The Croat sensation has got a wealth of experience at the highest level. Gvardiol is primarily a centre-back but can also operate as a left-back if required. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if the Catalan club manage to bring him on board this January or at the end of this campaign.
We can expect Gvardiol to add a lot of quality to Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick’s backline. He is more than capable of nailing down a regular first-team spot at the Nou Camp.
At 23, Gvardiol has got his best years ahead of him, which makes him a great option for the Catalan giants to pursue next summer. He might even help Barca challenge for some major trophies over the next few years. All in all, Flick would be wise to step up his efforts to land the Croat defensive ace at the end of this campaign.
