In a recent report, The Daily Mirror claimed that Barcelona are set to rival Chelsea for Palmeiras winger Estevao Willian this summer. It has been mentioned that the Catalan club are open to hijacking the Blues’ move for the gifted starlet later this year.
Estevao has managed to make his way up the youth ranks of Palmeiras and deserves a ton of credit for breaking into their first XI recently. The 16-year-old has already featured in seven senior matches for the Brazilian outfit so far, picking up one assist in the process across all competitions.
The talented youngster has caught the eye with his performances on the right side of Palmeiras’ attack. At the moment, he is amongst the best young wide players in Brazilian football, so Barcelona would do well to get a deal over the line for him this summer.
His current contract at the Brazilian club will expire in the summer of 2026. Thus, it would be difficult for Barca to sign him on a cut-price deal in the upcoming transfer period.

Estevao is a technically gifted footballer who has got the vision to set up some decent chances for his teammates in the final third. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and can make a few driving runs with the ball out on the flanks. Estavao is primarily a right-winger but can also play as a striker or in the number ten position if asked to do so.
However, the Brazilian prospect is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in senior football. Still, there is no doubt that Barcelona can benefit from recruiting him as he has the potential to be a generational talent.
At 16, the future looks quite bright for Estevao as long as he continues to improve with each year. Thus, Barca would be wise to go all out to win the race for his services at the end of this season.
the Catalan club would be wise to snap him up when the transfer window reopens later this year.
