It has been three years since Robert Lewandowski joined FC Barcelona, arriving from Bayern Munich in a big-money deal.
Safe to say, the veteran centre-forward has been a major success at the Catalan club, winning two La Liga titles in his three years along with two Spanish Super Cups and the Copa del Rey.
In 147 appearances for the Blaugrana, Lewandowski has netted 101 goals, of which 42 came this season, while registering 20 assists as well.
Now, though, according to The Athletic, within Barcelona the assumption is that the upcoming season will be Lewandowski’s last at the club.
The 36-year-old veteran’s current contract with Barça runs until 2026, with the club retaining an option to extend it by another year.

However, the belief inside the club offices is that the 2025/26 season will be the Poland striker’s final one – meaning the extension will not be activated and no fresh renewal will be offered.
Lewandowski, for his part, has shown no indication of wanting to leave and maintains that he is still in great shape physically despite touching 37.
But there have been murmurs of a possible move to Saudi Arabia next year, with Barcelona understood to be laying down a succession plan for their ace goalscorer.
In fact, reports suggest that there are chances that the centre-forward’s role gets limited in the upcoming campaign itself, with Hansi Flick likely to turn to Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo as alternatives.
So, the new season could very well end up proving to be Lewandowski’s last.
Atletico Madrid and Argentina striker Julian Alvarez, to that end, has been identified as a possible option to replace Lewandowski, with Barça president Joan Laporta a big admirer of the World Cup winner.
