FC Barcelona can officially win La Liga this weekend, if they either win or draw the upcoming El Clasico. With the league title wrapped up, the Catalans would not have any other trophy left to compete for this season.
However, that does not mean that Hansi Flick is going to have an easier time after that, as he would have some difficult decisions to make going forward. In this regard, Mundo Deportivo notes that there are three particular cases that he would have to address once the La Liga race is over.
These three cases pertain to three players whose future hangs in the balance at this point in time, i.e., Robert Lewandowski, Marcus Rashford, and Joao Cancelo.
The Pole’s contract is ending at the end of this season, and it remains to be seen whether Barcelona would offer him an extension. Flick will have to make a decision on whether he wants him to stay in his team, and if yes, what role he would have next season.
Secondly, Rashford has had quite a good season on loan at the Blaugrana club, in which, despite not being a regular starter, he scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists in 46 matches. He has a €30 million release clause, but the Catalans can also try to get him on another loan, and the German coach will have to make a decision about it.
Lastly, Joao Cancelo has also been highly effective since returning to Barcelona to play on loan from Al-Hilal. In fact, he has already displaced Alejandro Balde as the starter, and can also play well on the right flank.
However, he still has a year left on his contract with the Saudi side, which will demand a fee for his signing, and Flick will have to decide on how far the club should go to get him.
It remains to be seen what decisions Hansi Flick will make in this regard, and how his Barcelona team would look going into the next season.
