It is known that Barcelona are on the verge of completing yet another move in the youth market, with Juwensley Onstein now very close to joining the Catalan club.
What makes this potential signing particularly striking is how quickly the situation shifted once Barcelona entered the race.
As reported by SPORT, only a few weeks ago, everything pointed towards Onstein signing for AC Milan.
The Italian giants had been tracking the youngster for a long time and were extremely confident of finalising the deal.
At the same time, Bayern Munich were also applying strong pressure, keen to convince the player with their long-standing reputation for developing young talent.
As it turns out, the entire landscape changed the moment Barcelona appeared.
Once Barça made their interest clear, Onstein decided to put all other negotiations on hold.
The player immediately prioritised a move to the Camp Nou project, a decision that has proven decisive in the final stages of the operation.
His willingness to wait for Barcelona, despite advanced talks elsewhere, is seen internally as a major factor in bringing the deal close to completion.
Barcelona are now very near to finalising the transfer after reaching a verbal agreement with all parties involved.
The club’s intention is for Onstein to join the group as soon as possible, allowing him to begin training normally once the signing is officially completed and his internal presentation is done.
From a sporting perspective, the signing is not a coincidence, as Onstein is expected to arrive, at least in part, to fill the gap that will be left by Alvaro Cortes next summer.
Cortes is likely to leave on loan if he does not secure a permanent place in the first team, opening the door for a new profile to step into the structure.
Notably, Onstein will initially be part of Barça Atletic, where he will gain experience over the coming months.
This period will be crucial for his adaptation. The club want him to settle into the city, learn the language, understand the demands of the Barça system, and gradually take steps forward within the structure.
