Earlier today, FC Barcelona fans had a bombshell dropped on them as it emerged that the club were all set to sign Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal.

Having seen their unrelenting pursuit of Julian Alvarez fail to yield the desired result, Deco & co. moved swiftly to secure an agreement for the 29-year-old Brazilian striker.

The La Liga champions will pay a transfer fee of €10 million plus add-ons for the Arsenal man, who will sign a two-year contract with the club, with an option for an additional twelve months.

Barcelona relaxed over Gabriel Jesus’ physical condition

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have thoroughly investigated Jesus’ physical condition and all the feedback has been positive

The only concern is that the Brazilian forward lacks match rhythm.

He was unable to build up sufficient playing time during the crucial stages of last season after recovering from injury, with Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres ahead of him in the Arsenal attack.

Several major injuries

It was on January 12, 2025, when Gabriel Jesus left the pitch in tears during an Arsenal-Manchester United match due to an injury. The diagnosis was serious: a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

The Brazilian returned on December 10 against Club Brugge, fully recovered, and has remained fit ever since, but without regular minutes under Mikel Arteta.

The latest setback was the third significant injury of Jesus’ career.

In January 2018, he suffered a sprain to the collateral ligament in his right knee. He missed 12 matches but did not require surgery.

He did need surgery after suffering a meniscus tear and partial damage to the collateral ligament in his right knee during Brazil’s 1-0 World Cup victory over Cameroon in Qatar on December 2, 2022.

By then, Jesus was already an Arsenal player and was in his first season in London. His recovery went smoothly, and he returned to competitive football after around three months.

Barça have received positive medical reports

Barcelona’s decision to pursue the Brazilian has not been made without first examining his medical history.

The Blaugrana are satisfied with the information they have gathered about his current condition and consider him fully recovered from the ACL injury.

The main challenge will be to restore his competitive rhythm and gradually bring him back to his best level.

For Barça, that makes Jesus a calculated move: a striker with proven experience who arrives after a serious injury but without current medical concerns, while the coaching staff will have to manage his workload carefully as he regains his sharpness.
