Barcelona appear to have already prioritized the signing of a new left-winger as the primary objective next summer and have already been linked to several promising names across Europe.

Yet, it is not surprising that the discussion starts with a certain Nico Williams, who was the club’s top choice to reinforce the department last summer.

After throwing positive signs for months, the Basque star eventually stayed at Athletic Club and did not join Barcelona as he preferred to stay with his childhood club for one more year.

His decision, however, did not go down well with Barcelona, and many reports suggested that the club may not push for him again.

Not out of the race

As relayed by SPORT now, Barcelona continue to maintain an eye on Nico and do not rule out the option of signing him next summer, especially given that the player is more open to a departure this time around.

However, his name is far from the top choice as the Catalans continue to maintain eyes on all other possible options and their financial situation.

Barcelona are aware of the growing interest in the Spaniard but are calm in his pursuit and have not yet made any decision over their stance.

However, they do know that he prioritizes a move to Catalonia and that resolving the financial situation is the most important aspect at this point.

The administration admires the young winger for his quality, pace, skill, ease of adaptation given his Spanish roots and the fact that he will be available for a fixed price of €67 million next summer.

However, they first wish for Williams to clarify his future and make it clear that he intends to leave before investing any time or money into his chase.

Bayern Munich and PSG are also keenly interested in Nico’s signing, while Manchester United are also mentioned as suitors by the report. At the same time, Real Madrid have also appeared as potential candidates.

For Barcelona, Rafael Leao, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Marcus Rashford also stand as great options. A final decision could be made after February.
