Barcelona have made a breathtaking start to the 2026-27 season, and it continued on Sunday with a 4-2 victory over Levante. In doing so, Hansi Flick’s side made it six wins from six across all competitions, while extending their lead at the top of La Liga to three points, with Real Madrid now being their closest challengers.

It’s been challenging at times, but the fact that Barcelona have a 100% record after six matches is testament to the good work done by Flick and his coaching staff. However, they are not prepared to rest on their laurels, and the plan will be to make it seven wins from seven when Racing de Santander visit the Spotify Camp Nou on Wednesday.

Barcelona will start that match as heavy favourites, and should they secure another three points, they would break a club record. As per Sport, the Catalans have never won their first seven matches at the start of a new season, but this is a target that is firmly in the sights of Flick and his players.

Flick’s side have become the fourth Barcelona team in history win their first six matches of a season, with it previously happening in the 1929/30, 1960/61 and 2018/19 campaigns. None of the aforementioned sides would go on to secure a seventh victory in a row, but the current crop have an excellent chance at home to newly-promoted Racing.

However, Barcelona cannot take anything for granted. They almost threw away a three-goal lead late on against Levante, so Flick will be keen to ensure that his players are switched on for the entirety of the 90 minutes on Wednesday – anything less, and they could fail to enter the club’s record books, which has happened on many an occasion since the German coach took charge two years ago.
