FC Barcelona are primarily focused on impressing on the field and making the most of the quality at their disposal. While Joao Cancelo has been brought in this season to help, he is perhaps the only winter signing that Barça have or will make.

However, the case of departures is a bit different when it comes to the Catalan club. For instance, Dro Fernandez is already expected to leave the club permanently, but the operation concerning German veteran and club captain Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is now also reaching a conclusive stage.

According to Fabrizio Romano, who paired the news with his iconic ‘Here we go!’ catchphrase, there is now a verbal agreement between Girona and the other involved parties to sign the player on loan.

With both Barcelona and the veteran goalkeeper on board, this is a good move for all parties involved. After all, Joan Garcia is the undisputed starter between the sticks and the opportunities for Ter Stegen have been very limited as a result.

Further formal steps are yet to follow, but it seems that the deal is now in an advanced stage. Considering that Ter Stegen wants more regular minutes before the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, a move like this should be great for him.
