Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is closing in on a move to Ajax, with journalist Matteo Moretto reporting that the German international is ready to travel to the Netherlands once the remaining formalities are completed. 

The latest Barcelona transfer news suggests the deal is now in its final stages, although a few administrative details still need to be resolved before the transfer can be officially confirmed.

Ter Stegen’s future has been one of the biggest talking points surrounding Barcelona this summer, and the experienced goalkeeper now appears closer than ever to ending his long association with the Catalan club.

Ter Stegen’s Ajax move enters final phase

According to Matteo Moretto, negotiations between Barcelona and Ajax have progressed significantly, with both clubs already reaching an agreement on the financial terms of the transfer.

The remaining work involves resolving several tax-related and bureaucratic matters between the player and Barcelona before the move can be completed.

Those outstanding details have delayed the official announcement, but they have not altered Ter Stegen’s intention to continue his career in Amsterdam.

The German goalkeeper is said to have decided several weeks ago that Ajax would be his preferred destination, with both parties now working to finalise the operation.

Ter Stegen returns to Barcelona training

Speculation surrounding the Marc-Andre ter Stegen transfer intensified after the goalkeeper missed Thursday’s training session, leading many to believe the agreement was about to be completed.

However, the 34-year-old returned to training under Hansi Flick on Friday morning and participated normally alongside his teammates.

His presence at the training ground in no way indicates that his transfer will fail. Rather, it only shows the final paperwork has not yet been completed.

Simply put, rather than disrupting his preparations, Ter Stegen has remained focused on maintaining his fitness as he waits for permission to complete the move.
