Barcelona captain’s right thigh strikes yet again

The ongoing FIFA World Cup has been full of ups and downs for FC Barcelona when it comes to their participating players. Unfortunately, the recent injury news related to Brazilian forward Raphinha following the game between Brazil and Haiti in Group C was certainly not something that the club would have liked to hear.

As a result of this injury, the South American forward could be a doubt for the games up ahead. However, there is a rather intriguing aspect about this injury, and that is the fact that it involves the player’s right thigh specifically.

What makes this particular injury intriguing is that this is the same right thigh that has been consistently causing the player issues all season long. In fact, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, this is the fifth occasion on which that exact same area of his body has forced him to be sidelined this season.

The first injury came in September of last year, and that was a right hamstring injury that ended up keeping the player sidelined for 9 games in total and was by far the worst case across the campaign. Following his return in late November, the player found himself on the sidelines once again in January of this year as he missed one more game due to a knock that he suffered in his right thigh.

Yet, even after returning from that particular setback, it did not take him long to get injured again. This time around, specifically at the start of February, the player suffered a right adductor overload and that forced him to miss the next three games before returning in mid-February. Then, in March, he suffered yet another hamstring injury in his right leg that ended up sidelining him for six more games.

Keeping that in mind, this new setback is now the fifth time that the player has suffered an injury or is dealing with some kind of discomfort in that right leg. Whatever the underlying problem is, this pattern is hardly something that should be ignored and both the Brazilian National team and FC Barcelona need to be cautious and pay as much attention to it as possible moving forward.
