Barcelona sporting director Deco on Wednesday held a one-on-one meeting with the entourage of a key member of the club’s transfer wishlist.

That’s according to Jijantes, who point towards Nico Williams as the player in question.

It is of course common knowledge at this point that Barcelona have set their sights firmly on wide-man Williams’ signature, with a view to next season.

The 22-year-old – fresh off adding ever further to his reputation at Euro 2024 – is considered the perfect profile to round out a frontline also containing the talents of both Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski.

The Blaugrana are far from the only interested club, with a number of the Premier League’s heavyweights also understood to be keeping a close eye on the situation.

All of a Barca persuasion will therefore no doubt be excited to hear that, on Wednesday, their side took another step forward in their Williams pursuit.

As per Jijantes:

‘Deco traveled to Zaragoza this afternoon to meet with Félix Tainta, Nico Williams’ agent. Barça, little by little advancing in the negotiation to sign the Navarrese player.’

With the Spanish international himself understood to be more than eager to link up with Hansi Flick’s squad, it is beginning to look like something of a formality that, by the summer’s end, Nico will indeed be suiting up in the colours of Barcelona.
