With club football at a pause before the beginning of the next season, FC Barcelona are working to eliminate any areas of weakness in their team by making the required signings from the market. Having already landed a winger, Anthony Gordon, they are now working on some departures to address their economic concerns and to make room for new players.
Hansi Flick would definitely be working with the Sporting Director Deco to identify which new players he wants from the market and which of his current players he can dispense. In addition to that, the German coach would also have another task this summer, replenishing his coaching staff after some movements at the end of the last season, i.e., the relocation of Julian Tous and the departure of Thiago Alcantara and Rafa Maldonado.
In this regard, a report from Mundo Deportivo reports that the German coach has already found a replacement of Tous as the head of the physical preparation department. Although the identity of the new coach is not revealed, the report claims an agreement with him has already been reached, and only an official confirmation is now left.
There are some hints about who this new coach is. He is well-known to Flick, and is a German, but he is not Holger Broich, who was previously being linked for this role.
It would not be long before it is revealed who this new coach is, but there is little reason to doubt Flick’s judgment, especially as this is an area that caused the German coach quite a lot of problems in the last season, with injuries to important players like Raphinha, Kounde, and Balde. Hopefully, this new appointment will salvage this problem, and allow the Barcelona coach to rely on his players without the lingering fear of recurring injuries.
