Barcelona closing in on signing of €3m goalkeeper

Barcelona are set for a very busy final few weeks of the summer transfer window, particularly in regards to signings. They completed a deal for Rodri a couple of days ago, and with Joao Cancelo poised to join his former Manchester City teammate at the Spotify Camp Nou, attention has already turned towards getting further reinforcements through the door.

A new striker is at the top of the agenda, while a central defender could also be sought if there is space. Meanwhile, work has also been done towards signing a goalkeeper to replace Wojciech Szczesny, who is expected to retire at the end of the 2026-27 season.

Aware that making signings will be extremely difficult next summer, Barcelona have planned to sort Szczesny’s replacement now. In the last few days, they have identified Dominik Livakovic as a leading target, and as per Sport, an offer has now been sent to Fenerbahce, who are believed to be close to accepting.

Barcelona will only sign Livakovic now if there is space

Barcelona have signalled their intention to pay €3m for Livakovic’s services, and given that he is out of favour in Türkiye, Fenerbahce are ready to let him go. If a deal is done, the Croatia international would be loaned out for the 2026-27 season before heading to the Spotify Camp Nou next summer to become Joan Garcia’s understudy, a scenario that he has already accepted.

Despite sending an offer to Fenerbahce that looks like being accepted, it is not guaranteed that Barcelona sign Livakovic. A deal would only be finalised if the club has the financial space, which will need to be assessed after the signing of a new striker (and possibly a centre-back). The Catalans consider the 31-year-old to be a market opportunity, but as of right now, he is not a priority.
