Barcelona confirm Cancelo signing on three-year deal after Al-Hilal exit | OneFootball

Barcelona have completed the signing of Portuguese full-back Joao Cancelo on a three-year contract, confirmed in posts on the club’s official X account. He is their latest arrival of the summer window.

The deal keeps the 32-year-old at the Spotify Camp Nou until 2029. Earlier reports indicated he would join on a free after agreeing with Al-Hilal to terminate his contract in exchange for waiving outstanding dues.

This is Cancelo’s third spell at Barcelona, and his first permanent move. He previously joined on loan from Manchester City in 2023-2024, then from Al-Hilal for the second half of last season.

Across a season and a half in Catalonia he played 65 games in all competitions, scoring six and providing nine assists. He also won the La Liga title with Barcelona last season.

Cancelo departs Al-Hilal after two seasons since summer 2024, though he featured in only one, having been left out of the domestic squad last season. He made 45 appearances for the Saudi side, scoring three and supplying 14 assists, and did not win a trophy.

He is Barcelona’s fifth signing of the summer, following Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Rodri and Jesse Bisiou, and the activation of a purchase clause for young Egyptian forward Hamza Abdelkarim.
