Defender Christensen, for his part, has not taken to the pitch since all the way back in August.

As much comes owing to a long-standing Achilles issue, which ultimately forced the Danish international under the knife.

Recent weeks saw Christensen make significant strides forward in his recovery, first spotted back on the grass in individual training, before playing a full role in group activities.

And, as alluded to above, such improvement is set to give rise to an imminent return to competitive duties for the former Chelsea man.

As confirmed by way of a statement across Barcelona’s social media platforms on the eve of the club’s La Liga meeting with Getafe:

‘Andreas Christensen has been declared fit! Welcome back, Andreas!’
