Barcelona have officially confirmed the permanent transfer of Joan Anaya to Sant Andreu, bringing an end to the young defender’s time at La Masia.
The announcement was made through the club’s official channels, with Barca thanking the player for his commitment during his years at the academy and wishing him success in the next chapter of his career.
In a brief statement, Barcelona confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Sant Andreu for Anaya’s transfer.
The club wrote:
“Agreement with Sant Andreu for the transfer of Joan Anaya.”
Barcelona also paid tribute to the defender’s contribution during his time at the club.
“The Club thanks him for his dedication and professionalism over these years and wishes him the very best, both professionally and personally.”
Anaya now joins Sant Andreu on a permanent deal as he looks to continue his development with regular senior football.
Not every La Masia graduate can break into Barcelona’s first team, and transfers such as this are an important part of the academy pathway.
For players like Anaya, consistent minutes in senior football are often more valuable than remaining in an increasingly competitive reserve setup. Sant Andreu should provide him with the opportunity to continue growing while building experience at the senior level.
Barcelona, meanwhile, continue to reshape the Barca Atletic squad as they focus on promoting the next generation of academy prospects.
Although Anaya’s journey at the club has come to an end, his development at La Masia has given him a strong platform to build his professional career elsewhere.
Barcelona’s message of appreciation reflects the club’s continued respect for academy players who helped represent its values, even if their futures ultimately lie away from Camp Nou.
