The attacking midfield position remains one of the most competitive areas in the current FC Barcelona squad. Even with a few players in this role sidelined by injuries, Hansi Flick still has a strong group to choose from, including Dani Olmo, Fermin Lopez, Gavi, and Dro, while both Pedri and Raphinha can also fill the position when required.
Despite this depth, the Catalan giants continue to be linked with new attacking midfield options in the transfer market. The latest name to reappear on their radar is a familiar one: Manchester City star Bernardo Silva.
According to CaughtOffside, Silva’s representatives have already been in contact with Barcelona over a potential move in 2026. The Portuguese international, who remains under contract with City until June 2026, is reportedly open to a new challenge, and his future could become a major topic of speculation this winter.

Barça sporting director Deco is understood to be driving the club’s interest in Silva. He views the 31-year-old as a perfect fit for Hansi Flick’s tactical setup, particularly if there’s a possibility of securing him on a free transfer.
Deco has already made contact with the player’s camp to explore potential terms, though much will depend on Manchester City’s stance on an early exit.
FC Barcelona are not alone in their pursuit. Juventus are also reportedly preparing an approach, although his wages, estimated at around £300k per week, pose a major challenge for the Italian side unless the midfielder is willing to accept a pay cut.
Meanwhile, Saudi clubs such as Al Ahli, Al Qadsiah, and Al Nassr are reportedly preparing highly lucrative offers. Their proposals could include four-year deals worth up to £500k per week, along with multi-million signing bonuses, financial terms that few European clubs would be able to match.
While Silva’s creativity, vision, and experience make him an attractive option for Barça, the club already has an abundance of attacking midfielders. Moreover, his age could prompt hesitation from the sporting department, which has been focused on long-term squad renewal.
Even so, if the opportunity arises to secure Silva on a low-cost or free transfer, Barcelona may see it as a rare chance to bring world-class quality and leadership to their midfield.
As things stand, Bernardo Silva’s future remains uncertain, with Barcelona, Juventus, and several Saudi clubs all keeping a close watch on his next move.
