Beyond the signings that FC Barcelona aim to complete this transfer window, they are also keeping an eye on other moves, involving some former players, that could also help generate income.
The La Liga champions often secure a percentage of future sales when young players depart, and that is the case with Estanis Pedrola.
The forward joined Serie A side Sampdoria last summer, after the club exercised a €3 million purchase option included in his contract. During those negotiations, Barcelona retained 50% of any future sale of the player.
Following a mixed spell with limited opportunities, Estanis left Sampdoria on loan to Bologna in the winter window. That move included a purchase option set at €4 million.
Although injuries have limited his impact at Bologna, he was part of the squad that lifted the Coppa Italia after a 1-0 win over AC Milan in the final.
According to Corriere dello Sport (h/t SPORT), Bologna are interested in securing Estanis’ permanent transfer despite his limited playing time.

However, Bologna are attempting to negotiate a reduction in the €4 million fee initially agreed with Sampdoria. If successful, this would reduce the amount Barcelona would receive – below the €2 million they had anticipated from their 50% stake.
Moreover, if Bologna instead decide to extend the loan for another season, Barça would not receive any immediate payment during this transfer window.
Estanis Pedrola joined Barça in 2021 from Reus to bolster the club’s Juvenil A team. That same season, he made his first-team debut under Xavi Hernandez in a La Liga fixture away to Mallorca, playing the final 10 minutes.
The forward was called up due to a large number of first-team absences, which forced the coaching staff to rely on youth players. Barça won that match 0-1, thanks to a goal from Luuk de Jong.
Although he was named in other first-team squads afterwards, Pedrola mainly played for the Juvenil side and the reserves before leaving for Italy
