Francisco Trincao is fast becoming a revelation at Sporting CP. Despite the departure of coach Ruben Amorim, the former Barcelona starlet has continued his blazing form in both domestic and European competitions.

In just competitive appearances this term, Trincao has racked up four goals and ten assists, establishing himself as a key component of Sporting CP’s attacking line.

Bayern Munich and Man City interested in Trincao

Trincao’s performances have not gone unnoticed either, with Bayern Munich and Manchester City taking note of his performances.

According to O Jogo (h/t Diario SPORT), both Bayern and Man City have sent emissaries to see him closely in action against Arsenal tonight, in the UEFA Champions League.

Barcelona on high alert

The growing interest in Trincao is a net positive for Barcelona, who could buy the player back for just €20 million and sell him in the summer to grab a quick buck.

That is because Barça had opted for a sell-on fee of 50% when they sold Trincao to Sporting CP in 2023, for a cumulative total of just €10 million.

What are Barça planning?

The report, though, suggests Barcelona do not plan to exercise the option to buy Trincao back for a cut-price deal, despite the economic opportunities that come with it.

It appears sporting director Deco is utilising Barça position to gain the club a favour in the deal to sign Viktor Gyokeres, the club’s top target in the forward position.

This could prove to be smart business for the Catalans, who already share an excellent relationship with the Portuguese giants.

For now, though, Barça are closely following Trincao’s development and a final decision will be made in the near future.
