FC Barcelona continue to keep a close eye on the transfer market as former players across Europe once again find themselves at the centre of major moves. With the club maintaining strategic clauses in past deals, several potential transfers could still generate financial benefits for the Catalan giants despite the players no longer being part of the squad.

According to Mundo Deportivo, citing journalist Rik Elfrink, one such case involves Sergino Dest, who has now emerged on Bayern Munich’s radar ahead of the upcoming transfer window. The former Barcelona right back is currently enjoying a strong spell at PSV Eindhoven, where he has recorded 2 goals and 8 assists in 38 appearances in the 2025–26 season. He is also preparing for the World Cup with the United States, where he is expected to play a key role.

Bayern are in the market for full-back reinforcements and see Dest as a profile that fits their plans. His ability to operate on both flanks is a key factor in their interest, especially as the German club looks to add depth and tactical flexibility.

At the same time, Bayern are also progressing in their pursuit of PSV midfielder Ismael Saibari, with discussions around a possible combined operation beginning to take shape.

The two-player package is being valued at around €58 million, with Saibari rated near €40 million and Dest close to €18 million. There is growing momentum around both situations, with Saibari’s agent, Ali Dursun, recently spotted in Eindhoven as talks move forward.

Barcelona are watching the situation closely, aware that any move involving Sergino Dest would also trigger a financial return. When the defender left for PSV in 2024, the club ensured a sell-on clause was included, believed to be around 20%. That could translate into a fee in the region of €3.5 million if the transfer goes through at the reported figures.

Dest’s path since leaving Barcelona has been a gradual rebuild. He arrived from Ajax as one of the most highly rated young full-backs in Europe, with Barcelona investing €21 million plus add-ons to secure his signing.

After an encouraging first season in 2020–21, his involvement dropped significantly in 2021–22, where he struggled to hold down a regular role in the Catalan side. That led to a loan spell at AC Milan in 2022–23, followed by another loan move to PSV in 2023–24, where he found more stability and regular minutes.

PSV eventually signed him permanently in 2024 on a free transfer, allowing Barcelona to remove his salary from the wage bill while still retaining a percentage of any future sale. He is now under contract until 2028, although he is understood to be open to a new step in his career, with a decision likely after the World Cup rather than before it.
