FC Barcelona significantly strengthened their attack in last summer’s transfer window, bringing in the likes of Marcus Rashford and Roony Bardghji. Another player who caught their attention at the time was Etta Eyong, who ultimately joined Levante from Villarreal.
Eyong enjoyed an impressive first half of the season with Levante and also turned heads during his debut at the Africa Cup of Nations, where Barcelona scouts were in attendance. The Catalan giants are keeping tabs on the player’s progress and are also aware that he would prioritize joining Barcelona.
However, despite their interest, and players reported openness to join them, FC Barcelona have now taken a definitive stance on the future of Etta Eyong, bringing clarity to months of speculation surrounding the young Cameroonian forward.

According to SPORT, Barcelona have decided not to pursue Eyong. The club recognizes that several Premier League sides could meet his €30 million release clause, removing him from the category of a low-cost target.
The Catalan giants maintain a positive relationship with Eyong’s representatives and continue to monitor his development, but the club’s focus for replacing Robert Lewandowski is firmly on established, top-level forwards.
Julián Álvarez remains the dream target, though the club is evaluating other experienced options. While rumors briefly linked Eyong with a move to CSKA Moscow or a January transfer to England, these have yet to materialize, and Barcelona are no longer expected to be involved.
