The defender Hector Fort returned to FC Barcelona only this summer after having spent the last season on loan with the La Liga side Elche. However, it is clear that he is not a part of Hansi Flick’s plans for the next season, and the Catalan club is looking for a new club for him this summer.

Fortunately, he has quite a lot of demand in Europe, and several notable clubs have shown interest in signing him. The German side Borussia Dortmund has been particularly closely linked with him in recent days.

In fact, Mundo Deportivo cites Sky Sports to claim that the Barcelona defender has made up his mind to join the Bundesliga side, and has rejected advances from other clubs, despite having attractive offers on the table from the likes of Real Sociedad and AS Roma.

For now, negotiations between the two clubs are on-going. The Catalans are looking to gain between €15-20 from the defender, but their income might decrease if they decide to keep some future options on him.

Meanwhile, Fort continues to wait for a resolution of his future, and is one of the several players who are training away from the rest of the group. Hansi Flick has decided to take this special precaution to ensure none of these players, who are not a part of his plans and are looking to change clubs this summer, are not exposed to the risk of an injury, especially after Roony Bardghji’s injury.

There is no doubt that Borussia Dortmund will be a very good option for Hector Fort, as the German club has an excellent record with youth talent development, and the defender is at a stage where he needs just such an opportunity to take the next step in his career. Meanwhile, Barcelona already have the right flank well covered with Eric Garcia and Jules Kounde.
