Andreas Christensen is one of the players whose future at FC Barcelona is uncertain. Offloading players is crucial for the club to create salary space and register signings such as Joan Garcia and potentially Nico Williams without financial hurdles.
The Danish defender is among those on the list of potential departures, given that his contract with Barça expires in 2026 and a renewal has not yet been offered.
However, according to SPORT, Christensen still believes he can compete with Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez, and Ronald Araujo for opportunities throughout the season at Barcelona.
As such, the 29-year-old centre-back’s stance is for him to stay put at the club. His position may change if he is informed that his chances of entering Hansi Flick’s rotation are minimal, especially with Eric Garcia also in contention for a central defensive role.
If he is to leave, Christensen has a clear idea of where he would like to play. Having previously played in the Premier League with Chelsea, he would be interested in continuing his career in a country where both he and his family feel comfortable.
Christensen could accept a move to another club in La Liga or in Serie A. Saudi Arabian clubs have also shown interest, but a move to the Middle East does not appeal to him.

Christensen places high importance on his family’s preferences and, having adapted well to life in Spain, he sees no issues in adjusting to life in Italy.
AC Milan, having previously made an offer, may return to the table, especially with the player entering the final year of his contract.
Barcelona, for their part, would aim for a sale – even for a minimal fee – primarily to relieve the club of his high wages.
For now, Christensen is focused solely on convincing Hansi Flick that he deserves a place in the squad. Last season was affected by injuries, culminating in surgery to address Achilles tendon issues.
The Dane returned to play in the final stretch of the campaign, featuring in the knockout tie against Inter Milan and in La Liga matches against Valladolid, Real Madrid, and Espanyol.
This summer will be crucial for Christensen as he waits to learn Flick’s plans and see how the final squad takes shape. His chances of staying could change if, for instance, a significant offer arrives for Ronald Araujo.
While the range of options remains open, Christensen’s priority is clear: he wants to stay at Barcelona and fight until the end to fulfil the final year of his contract.
