The defender has been sidelined since July following an injury he sustained while playing for Uruguay in the Copa America. He suffered a hamstring injury in his right thigh, which required surgery to fix.

Recovery going well

The recovery process has been progressing well. Initially, Araujo worked with a physiotherapist in his home country before returning to Barcelona at the start of September. Since then, he has been putting in the hard work, gradually regaining his fitness.

Meanwhile, Hansi Flick confirmed in a recent press conference that Araujo will join the team for training this Sunday, taking another step forward in his comeback.

However, while Araujo will be rejoining the group, he is not yet ready for match action. He still needs more time to regain his rhythm and match fitness, and Barcelona have planned for him to be available for selection in December.

When will he return to action?

The club has set their sights on the match against Leganes on December 15 as his potential return to competitive action.

Before that, Barcelona will face three league matches against Las Palmas, Mallorca, and Betis, as well as two Champions League games against Brest and Borussia Dortmund.

Araujo’s return is a major boost for Flick, who has shown great confidence in the centre-back since he arrived at Barcelona.

In previous seasons, he has been a key figure in the team, and he will have to work hard to regain his place in the starting lineup, especially with the impressive form of his defensive teammates, Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez.

Nonetheless, Araujo’s return will undoubtedly strengthen Barcelona’s defensive options as they continue their campaign.
