After it was confirmed that FC Barcelona were set to lose Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernandez to PSG, it appears that another talented young footballer from La Masia is on his way out.

Indeed, Andres Cuenca, who is currently a part of the Barça Atletic setup, has been attracting interest from clubs in Italy and France. And he is now close to securing a move away.

Como set to sign Andres Cuenca

According to SPORT, Cuenca is all set to sign for Serie A outfit Como 1907, with an agreement in advanced stages.

The 18-year-old centre-back had several offers on the table, but all indications suggest that the Italian side will secure his signature, with the deal in its final stages.

Cuenca, who made his first-team debut for Barcelona last season under Hansi Flick, has a contract that expires on 30 June 2026.

While there had been plans to negotiate a new deal, it appears that the Spanish defender has chosen to take up a new challenge in his career and is headed to Italy to join Como.

Como to loan Cuenca out after transfer

However, the report states that Como’s plan is to loan Cuenca out for the coming months so that he can gain regular minutes and continue his development.

Manager Cesc Fabregas likes his profile and believes he fits the team’s style of play, although he still needs to improve in certain aspects of his game. For that reason, an immediate loan is the most likely option.

As per the report, Barcelona are not expected to receive a transfer fee from Cuenca’s move.

But the Blaugrana will retain a percentage of any future sale, something they would not secure if the player were to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires.
