Barcelona demand Raphinha return following Brazil injury scare | OneFootball

In the last 24 hours, Barcelona have been handed their second injury scare of the international break. After Eric Garcia was forced to withdraw from Spain’s squad after he suffered knee discomfort prior to the match against England, Raphinha has now also gone down with an issue sustained during Brazil’s friendly victory over Australia.

Raphinha injured his hamstring during the first half of Brazil’s 4-2 victory over Australia on Tuesday. He was forced off at half time, much to the concern of Barcelona – especially Joan Laporta, who spoke on the matter in the hours after it was confirmed.

Barcelona have now moved to ensure that Raphinha returns to Catalonia with immediate effect. As per Sport, they have asked the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) to release Raphinha with immediate effect, which will allow them to monitor his recovery.

Serious injury ruled out for Raphinha

Barcelona have had to ask because there is a chance that Brazil keep Raphinha in their squad for their final match of the international break, which takes place on Saturday against India. Medical tests have ruled out a serious injury for the forward, and thus, there is a decision to be made as to whether he stays or returns to Catalonia shores.

It makes complete sense for Barcelona to get Raphinha back. He’s already featured twice for Brazil, and given he’s suffered an injury scare, there should be no risks taken with his recovery, especially with the Selecao back in action in only a few days’ time. The Catalans do not play until the following weekend against Getafe, so if he returns now, he will have plenty of time to get back to 100% before that match comes around.

In the next 24-48 hours, a decision will be made on Raphinha. The player himself and the CBF will make the final call, but Barcelona are hopeful that they get their wish of his return.
