The setback has practically ended his hopes of playing in the upcoming FIFA World Cup, making the situation even more painful for the experienced shot-stopper.

His emotional message to the fans after the injury quickly spread across social media and caught the attention of the football community.

Support from the Barcelona players

Beyond the reaction from Girona supporters, the response from Barcelona players has been particularly striking.

Several of his former teammates did not hesitate to show their support publicly.

The gesture may seem simple, but it certainly shows the strong bond Ter Stegen still shares with the Barcelona dressing room. Despite his loan move, he clearly remains a respected and loved figure among his teammates.

Meanwhile, in his message, the goalkeeper spoke about the emotional toll of the injury.

“Most of you don’t know me personally, so I want to share something with you. I am a positive person.

“I have always had this mindset and have carried it with me through every challenge I have faced, but this one is proving particularly difficult for me,” he said.

Furthermore, he made it clear that his commitment to the team has not changed and that he will continue to support them during his recovery.
