Barcelona forwards lit up the Champions League stage against Newcastle United, with the Blaugrana attack delivering a devastating display on a night when almost everything clicked in the final third.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the spotlight fell in particular on Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski, who both bounced back from difficult first-half moments to play decisive roles in Barcelona’s emphatic win. The former missed an open goal, while the latter failed to put away a chance he would score from nine times out of ten.
Lamine’s evening was a perfect example of that pattern. He was involved in the sequence that led to Newcastle’s 2-2 equaliser, after a risky backheel in his own half was cut out, and he also missed a big chance just before the break when he fired over from close range.
But instead of fading, the teenager responded immediately. He helped create the move that won Barcelona a penalty and then calmly converted it himself for 3-2, showing the personality that continues to set him apart.
Lewandowski had a similar story. The Polish striker struggled physically in the first half against the imposing Dan Burn and missed a clear chance when Aaron Ramsdale denied him after a Barcelona counterattack.
Yet once the second half began, the veteran forward completely changed the narrative. He scored for 5-2 with a well-taken header at the far post and then added the sixth after being played through by Lamine Yamal.
What made the night even more striking was that neither player was even considered the standout individual performer. Raphinha still arguably shone brightest. That only underlines how dangerous Barcelona’s attack looked as a collective. When three of their biggest attacking names are all influencing the game so heavily, they become extremely difficult to live with.
For Barcelona, this was more than just an entertaining attacking display. It was a reminder that even when their forwards suffer setbacks within a game, they have the quality and mentality to respond in brutal fashion.
