Barcelona have emerged as a likely destination for Nico Williams, who is expected to make a leap towards a bigger club after impressing onlookers in Euro 2024.

The Catalans have reportedly reached an agreement with Nico’s agent over a potential five-year deal at Barça. However, the transfer saga is far from over.

Barça taking PSG’s interest seriously

In recent days, PSG have emerged as another suitor for Nico Williams as he looks to take the next step in his career.

The French giants are desperately looking for a new attacker this summer after losing Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Nico has emerged as an ideal candidate thanks to his blistering performances in Euro 2024 and La Liga this past season.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are not taking PSG’s competition lightly and are thus awaiting Nico’s final call.

The Blaugrana realise that PSG have the economic capacity to steal any potential deal with Nico and are, therefore, hopeful that the Spaniard will accept a move to Camp Nou sooner rather than later.

Three options for Nico

At present, Nico has possible options to choose from. Barcelona would ideally hope that he moves to Catalonia this summer and play alongside Lamine Yamal in the club’s frontline

But if he rejects a move to Barcelona, the forward must choose between joining PSG or continuing at Athletic Club, at least for another season.

A move to PSG could see him bag a significantly more lucrative contract compared to what Barcelona are offering.

However, Nico has not completely ruled out a prolonged stay at Athletic Club, knowing he will be able to participate in the Europa League next season.
