Barcelona have sold several young talents in recent years for whom they reserve a part of the rights. Joan Laporta and Co., thus, hoped for some reasonable income from such passive deals this summer with several such former players linked with transfers.

Ferran Jutgla was one such player who was seen as one to make a move this summer. After all, he made it clear that he was closing his chapter at Club Brugge and that he desired a return to Spain.

Now Celta Vigo have made his signing official, announcing it earlier today. The offices in Catalonia, however, will not be pleased with the terms of the deal.

A negligible return

Jutgla left Barcelona for Club Brugge in 2022 for a sum of €5 million. In return, they maintained 10% rights of any profit the Belgian club made on the player’s future sale.

His transfer to Celta Vigo is now official and according to Mundo Deportivo, the fee involved was just €5.5 million. That figure places the profit for Club Brugge at a meagre €500,000 and Barcelona’s part to be just €50,000.

Needless to say, this comes as a massive blow for the Blaugrana especially given that a fee of close to €7 million was rumoured not too long ago. Such a figure would see them earn significantly more in their coffers.

Nevertheless, the newly arrived €50,000 add-on to this season’s accounts and thus, albeit in a miniscule capacity, helps the team’s financial statement. Barcelona, however, will feel hard done by the entire saga.

In 148 games for the Belgian club, Jutgla scored 40 goals and provided 24 assists across all competitions.

Now at Celta Vigo, he will look to continue his good form and help the Galician side’s cause in their Europa League charge next season.
