Hansi Flick’s Barcelona secured for themselves a piece of club history during their latest outing.
This came by way of the Blaugrana’s efforts in front of goal in their meeting with Real Sociedad.
Barca were of course back in action on Sunday night, welcoming Real Sociedad to Catalunya’s capital for a La Liga clash.
And when all was said and done, the evening’s hosts did enough to make it five wins on the bounce across all competitions.
After Álvaro Odriozola put La Real into a surprise lead during the first-half at Montjuïc, Jules Koundé levelled things up shortly before half-time, setting the stage for Robert Lewandowski to notch the game’s winner on the far side of the interval.
And as alluded to above, owing to these exploits, Barca’s current crop of stars made history.
As revealed by statisticians Opta:
‘Barcelona have scored in each of their last 44 games in all competitions (125 goals), equalling their best scoring streak in history, achieved between November 1942 and February 1944 (44 matches, 139 goals).’
