Manchester United could finish as low as 17th this Premier League season, and even Europa League success cannot hide the fact that this team needs to be revamped in the summer.

INEOS are planning to be ruthless, placing almost the entire squad on the market, except for a few untouchables, as they look to raise money for Ruben Amorim to invest.

Selling academy graduates is something the co-owners will focus on, as their sale represents pure profit, with Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho both linked with exits.

Marcus Rashford, who is on loan at Aston Villa, is also expected to depart with INEOS making it very clear that the Mancunian has no future at Old Trafford.

The Englishman was enjoying a relatively successful loan period with the Birmingham-based side, scoring four times while registering six assists in 10 starts across all competitions.

Barcelona want Rashford

His form had seen him get recalled to the England national team and there were murmurs that he could stay put at Villa beyond his loan spell with Unai Emery’s men having the option of purchasing his services outright for £40 million.

But with Champions League football not guaranteed, there is a chance Villa might not be able to afford the extensive outlay including the forward’s humongous wage demands while Rashford is also inclined towards securing a dream move to Barcelona.

The 27-year-old had hoped that a January move to Camp Nou would materialise but Barca failed to cough up United’s demands and hence, a move collapsed. But they are expected to return in the summer.

As per TBR Football, not only Rashford but the Catalan giants are also eyeing another Carrington graduate in Mason Greenwood, who is currently with Marseille.

The one-cap England international has been on fire in Ligue 1, netting 20 times while registering five assists and naturally, lots of clubs across Europe are chasing his signature.

United will be keen to see him sold for a high fee as they included a 50 per cent sell-on clause when they sold him to the French team last summer. United are liable to receive half of the profit Marseille make from Greenwood’s sale.

“Sources have told TBR Football that Barcelona do have an interest in signing Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford this summer. Villa are open to making Rashford’s loan move permanent, but the winger, who earned an England recall, is considering his options and a move to Barca is seen as his favoured option.

Eyeing Greenwood as well

“TBR Football can reveal that the Spanish league leaders appreciate his versatility and his ability to play off both the left and also centrally.

“Rashford is not the only option Barca are looking at, with United’s former winger Greenwood another player who they are big admirers of. Atletico Madrid are also keeping tabs on Greenwood, whilst TBR Football can confirm that there is some interest within the Premier League about offering Greenwood a return to England.

“Sources with knowledge of the situation have named two clubs that have discussed the option of Greenwood, but at this point, a move to Spain is much more likely.”

Marseille want €70 million or £59 million for Greenwood, which means the Old Trafford side would be liable to receive £16 million while INEOS are eyeing at least £40 million from Rashford’s sale.
