It has been a topsy-turvy season for Barcelona midfield sensation and fan favourite star Gavi.
Having returned after nearly a year out due to an ACL injury, the 20-year-old La Masia gem was eased back into action by manager Hansi Flick.
But Gavi started to play more regularly after the turn of the year, gaining more weight in the team, with the manager even seemingly preferring him over Dani Olmo as the No. 10 at times.
However, in recent weeks, the Spanish international’s role has taken a backseat, with minutes not coming as regularly as they were – especially as a starter in the lineup.
It has led to some speculations about Gavi’s future but the midfielder has played it down, stating that he remains committed to the team.
Now, according to Catalunya Radio, Gavi will have greater prominence in the team and get more minutes in the final phase of the season.

The report claims that Flick has always valued the Barcelona midfielder but was aware that the youngster would take at least 4-5 months after his comeback from injury to return to 100% fitness.
That period will coincide with the final stretch of the campaign and there will be a marked increase in the minutes that Gavi is expected to see as we enter the business end.
The fact that Marc Casado is injured and might not play again this season also works in Gavi’s favour as Flick will need depth in the middle of the park ahead of a busy schedule for Barcelona.
So far this season, Gavi has played 26 games in all competitions, contributing two goals and three assists in the process.
