Supporters of La Liga giants Barcelona have on Wednesday continued to take aim at a particular member of the club’s backline in ruthless fashion.
The player in question? Jules Koundé.
Stopper Koundé was for his part in from the off once more this evening, as Barcelona made the trip to Belgium for a Champions League meeting with Club Brugge.
To this point in proceedings, however, both the Frenchman and Barca as a collective have endured an outing to forget.
As things stand at Jan Breydel Stadium, Hansi Fick’s troops trail by two goals to one.
A disastrous start on the defensive end saw the Blaugrana concede twice within the opening 20 minutes, with Koundé a central factor as to why.
Continuing to struggle with everything from his efforts in one-on-one duels to his defensive positioning, the former Sevilla man was the last to step forward to spring the offside trap on Brugge early on, allowing the hosts to break free and open the scoring.
And safe to say, many of a Barcelona persuasion appear to have had it with their side’s defensive star.
Amid what has been a frankly alarming opening to the campaign on Koundé’s part, calls have hit a new high for the 26-year-old to be dropped from the Spanish champions’ starting XI.
